Nov 17 to 21 What's Up!
NOVEMBER 17-21
We are already halfway through November! Where has the time gone! We now countdown to Winter Break, just a short 5 weeks away. Secondary students all received their Term 1 Learning Updates (aka report cards) on Friday with the semester marks. Remember that families (secondary only) can always check on student progress through the Family portal.
School Messenger/Safe Arrival has been giving us some grief lately, which has impacted your ability to call in absences! The district is working on this and for now if you are unable to enter an absence on Safe Arrival, we ask that you send an email to sumasmountain@abbyschools.ca.

If your child is missing assignments, tests, quizzes, etc., they will be required to attend. This is an opportunity to get back on a good path to the end of the semester. Take advantage of this gift of time. Parents will also receive emails home to let them know if they should be here on Friday and/or on the learning update. Once students are finished, they can leave for the day. Buses will be running on the regular schedule and there will always be space for students to go to if they are unable to arrange a ride. Students in good standing do not need to attend.

Reporting Absenteeism: Please use Report Student Absences at: SafeArrival | Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts (ASIA) - Sumas Mountain OR you can install the SchoolMessenger App from Apple or Google. Please DO NOT use this to sign a student out during the day. We only check it once in the morning.
STUDENT SIGN OUT – We have a couple of ways you can check in, drop off something or pick up your child for an appointment. Our office is open daily from 8 to 3. You can 1) drop off a late lunch or project 2) check in for an appointment or 3) sign your child out.
We also have the option to call us at the school, especially if you are in the parking lot waiting to pick up your child. Our number is 604.850.5207. If you get the voicemail, please try again, we are a busy office and chances are someone is waiting at the window. Please DO NOT just pick up your child. We are responsible for their wellbeing and in the event of an emergency, we need to know where everyone is. A quick call to the office is all we need. Students will not be released unless someone in the office speaks to a parent. It is also important that anyone who is picking up a child here is on the list that you approve. For example, make sure grandma is one of the contacts, so that we don’t have to delay your child from leaving with her!
CAFETERIA IS OPEN! – we have a full weekly menu available. For your reference the following will be our theme days determined by Chef Cheryl.
