Grade 6 Parent Meeting

Welcome to Middle School at the Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts, Sumas Mountain Campus! This is an exciting time as your child starts middle school with us and we look forward to a wonderful new chapter in their life. Your child has a great home with a strong, caring, artistic community.  

Our school prides itself on offering the very best education while integrating the arts with the curriculum. Our teachers are highly educated, possessing not only teaching degrees but an intensive arts background as well. They have a passion for excellence in teaching and student achievement. In saying this, as artists, they are the best people to “get” your artistic child. They will continue to build relationships with your child to ensure that everything they do daily will be to make the middle school years the very best educational, social and emotional growth years. They also aim to build relationships with the most meaningful partners in your child’s life, you. Please make sure you are in contact with our teachers on a regular basis. Communication is so important for everyone and especially for your child’s success. 

This is also a new chapter for some of you as well. We would like to invite you to our Grade 6 Parent Night to inform you about Middle School practices, expectations, how middle school differs from elementary school, and of course answer all your questions. Please mark your calendars to be sure you attend virtually on Thursday, September 21st from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. 

We look forward to connecting with you and your child. We will also have some advice that comes from years of teaching/parenting that will help you make the transition to a Middle School Parent! This is an important time for you and we want you to feel good in the school community as well.  

Our Meet the Teacher event will be on Tuesday, September 26th from 6-7:30 pm. We will be face to face, welcoming you to the school to meet your child's teachers. 

We have many avenues for communication. As mentioned before, keep in contact with your child’s teachers. Know their login information for the online platforms that your child’s teacher will use.   

Also check back to our website (sumasmountain.abbyschools.ca) often, Facebook,  Instagram (@ASIASumas), and the District App (available for Android and Apple). With all this, there is a limited chance you will miss out! Also, make it a point to get out to our PAC meetings.  Your voice is important for the initiatives we pilot here at ASIA Sumas.
