Step Up Sixes Day

On behalf of the staff and students at ASIA, welcome to our school! We look forward to meeting you and helping you transition to your new campus. Going to a new school can sometimes make people nervous. There are new teachers, new classrooms, and you even get your own locker and class schedule. That said, we would like to help you start your grade 6 year strong and with nothing to worry about! In order to have all our grade 6 students start the year with confidence, we are inviting you all to “Step Up” day, which is happening August 29th from 9:30-11:30.

During Step Up day, you can come into ASIA and meet your new homeroom teachers and tour the school. You can ask whatever questions you might have, check out your new classrooms and even find your locker, get your combination, and learn to open it. Students are encouraged to attend Step Up day so that when the first day of school arrives, they can feel more confident knowing where to go, how to navigate our learning community, and so that the routines associated with the first day of school can be demystified. We will even supply snacks and a chance to win some useful prizes! Parents, we humbly ask that you allow your child to experience step up day on their own. Our PAC (Parent Advisory Council) will be on site to meet with you once the students have been dropped off so that you can connect with other grade 6 parents and ask any questions you like together. After this short meeting, you are welcome to leave the students on campus until our pick up time. Please do not stay in the classroom with them. We appreciate your giving them the opportunity to bond with their new classmates as they explore their new school together. There is no need to bring anything, but if you would like to bring your school supplies into place in your locker you are welcome to. The list of required school supplies can be found on our website .We hope to see you on campus on August 29th from 9:30-11:30. Thank you, and have a wonderful summer!
